General Terms and Conditions
As of March, 2015
1. GENERAL
These general terms and conditions are valid for application and participation in the educational program of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna (courses, masterclasses, workshops, intensive coaching). By sending the application the participant declares to be in agreement with these general terms and conditions, and bound by them.
2. APPLICATION
Application for the educational program (courses, masterclasses, workshops, intensive coaching) is only possible online. The online application form available at http://www.alkansocietyvienna.org/en/anmeldeformular/ has to be fully completed and submitted at the latest 3 weeks before the beginning of the courses or any other item of the educational program. The application of a participant who is under age has to be made by the parent or legal
guardian. Later application is possible but the application fee is then raised (see content by 8.).
Applications for intensive coaching are possible anytime.
3. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The age limit to participation in the masterclasses, as well as in the Intensive Coaching, is 14;
the only condition of acceptance is the audition on the first day. The lecturer decides irrevocably and at his or her own discretion who will be accepted as an active participant. Students who do not pass the audition can attend the masterclass as a passive participant. In this case the difference in the fee for active and passive participation will be refunded.
The number of active participants (courses, masterclasses) is limited to a maximum of 12.
If by the closing date of registration a masterclass or course does not have the minimum number of participants, the Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna reserves the right to reduce the number of days on which the masterclass or course is held. Nevertheless, even if this is the case, all participants receive the full number of teaching units.
The condition of admission to the Intensive Coaching consists of an audition and an interview about the specific content of the Coaching program.
For highly talented participants, exception can be made regarding the age limit (younger than 14).
Extra dates will be personally arranged with participants for sessions of Intensive Coaching.
4. CONCURRENT ATTENDANCE OF SEVERAL MASTER-CLASSES
It is possible to attend several masterclasses which have to be paid as indicated in the price list. If several masterclasses are attended the application fee has to be paid only once. By recurrent or regular attendance the application fee will not be charged even after a period of a year.
If the latest masterclass or course was attended larger than 12 months, the application fee has to be payed again.
5. CHANGING TO A DIFFERENT MASTERCLASS OR DIFFERENT COURSE
Once the masterclass or course booked has started, it is not possible to change to a different one unless the participant pays the full participation fee for both masterclasses.
6. PRACTICE ROOMS
Active participants can rent practice rooms to a limited degree. When the participation card is collected, for the first day of the master-class warming up possibilities will initially be provided free of charge.
After the audition result has been announced, active participants can rent practice rooms for the duration of their masterclass. Instruments of exclusive manufacture will be available.
Reservation of practice rooms, as well as booking and payment of practice fees will be done exclusively by the Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna.
7. DIPLOMA
At the end of their masterclass, active participants receive a diploma confirming their participation.
8. PARTICIPATION AND APPLICATION FEE
Masterclass:
Active: EUR 600,-
(including EUR 120,- application fee)
Passive: EUR 300,-
(including EUR 120,- application fee)
Duos:
Active: EUR 1.000,-
(including EUR 240,- application fee for two persons).
The application fee of EUR 120,-
(EUR 150,- if the application occurs after three weeks before the beginning of the course or masterclass) covers
the costs of processing the application and will not be refunded if the participation is cancelled.
Listeners can buy a day or week card:
One-week card: EUR 130,-
Day card: EUR 25,-
Reduced price day card EUR 15,-
(only with student identity card)
Half-day card: EUR 15,- (10 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.)
Workshops:
EUR 200,- (no application fee)
Intensive Coaching:
1 Session (60 min.) EUR 90,-
5 Sessions / Monthly Package (5 sessions at 60 min. each, only valid each calendar month)
EUR 425,-
10 Sessions / Monthly Package (10 sessions at 60 min. each, only valid each calendar month)
EUR 780,-
Semester Card (20 Sessions at 60 min. each, valid from September to January, February to June)
EUR 1200,-
Not taken Intensive Coaching sessions are not transferable to the following month.
Sessions can be cancelled latest one day before the scheduled date and postponed. Missed sessions on the same day cannot be performed later. Any refund of not taken sessions is excluded.
No application fee will occur for intensive coaching.
All fees are inclusive of VAT.
9. CONDITIONS OF PAYMENT
By sending the application form online, a confirmation and an invoice will be provided by Email to the indicated Email address. The application is binding and creates obligation to payment of the participation inclusive the application fee. Applications will be considered in the order they will be received by the Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna. Same issue occurs for workshops as well (only participation fee).
All fees for Intensive Coaching must be payed in advance as for other applications.
Participants take all charges for bank trasfer of the application and participation fees
Application process will be fully completed after the bank transfer of the participation fee including the application fee has been received by the indicated bank account. Detailed informations are included in the confirmation.
10. ENROLMENT
The enrolment formalities are to be carried out in the Office of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna one day before the start of the masterclass. Students receive their participation card from the office as well as all other necessary information.
Participants who have not settled their enrolment formalities at the latest on the first day of the course will be automatically disqualified from taking part in the courses of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna.
In this case the participation fee will not be refunded.
Participants who will not be present for the entire duration of the masterclass/ their course, must inform the Office of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna in writing at the same time as they enrol, at the latest by one month before the beginning of the masterclass. Even for a shorter period of participation the full fee still has to be paid.
11. SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR UNDERAGE PARTICIPANTS
The parent or legal guardian who concludes the contract for participation in the educational programs of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna on behalf of the participant who is under age, declares his or her agreement with the fact that the Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna cannot assume any responsibility for supervising the participant who is under age.
This applies in particular to behaviour immediately before the beginning of the masterclass/workshop/intensive coaching or at the end of them and outside the rooms where the educational programs are held. Every application of a participant who is under age requires a signed declaration by the parent or legal guardian to this effect.
The parent or legal guardian is responsible for damage caused by the participant who is under age. Furthermore, the parent or legal guardian indemnifies the Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna concerning all claims to compensation which are asserted by the participant who is under age.
12. LIABILITY
Participating in the masterclasses of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna occurs at the participant’s own risk. Participants are responsible for damage which they may cause. Liability for compensation, in so far as it is not based on intent or gross negligence is out of the question, in particular if a masterclass or a course has to be cancelled.
13. WITHDRAWAL
If written notification of withdrawal is submitted three weeks in advance, the registration fee will be retained; the remaining amount (participation fee) will be refunded. All transaction charges will be deducted. By withdrawal, it is essential to state the own international bank account details (including the Bank Identification Code BIC and the International Bank Account Number IBAN/PayPal-account) as well as the address of the bank.
A refund of the participation fee by deregistration two weeks before beginning of the course or workshop will be charged with 50% of the fee. After this deadline no more refund will be possible. A participant can mention a substitute person without additional charges.
Refunds can only be made 3 months after the end of a course / masterclass.
The full participation and registration fee will be reimbursed if the management of The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna is forced to cancel a masterclass or course.
No withdrawal ist possible for sessions of intensive coaching. A single session ist valid 1 month from
application date. Packages of 5 and 10 sessions are valid 6 months from application date. After these deadlines claim of intensive coaching will expire and the fee will not be refunded.
Short-term cancellation of intensive coaching sessions, latest by one day before the session, can be postponed at no additional costs. Cancelled sessions on the same day cannot be offered at a later date as well as they will not be refunded.
14. DATA PROTECTION
Participants take note that the data stated by him or her will be stored and processed according to the terms of the data protection law.
15. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE
If individual terms of these terms and conditions are or become ineffective, the validity of the other terms of these general conditions are not thereby affected. The ineffective term is replaced by a substitute provision which comes closest to the intended regulation.
16. KNOWLEDGE OF LANGUAGES
Spoken languages during masterclasses are German and English.
It is recommended to be fluent-proficient in one of these languages to be able to comprehend the main lectured issues.
17. CHOICE OF LAW AND PLACE OF JURISDICTION
It is agreed that Austrian law applies for all conflicts resulting from or related to the business relationship under exclusion of norms of international private law and of the UN Convention on Contracts for the international sale of goods. The place of jurisdiction for all conflicts resulting from or related to the business relationship is Vienna, Austria.
18. FINAL PROVISIONS
The Charles-Valentin Alkan Society of Vienna reserves the own right to adapt and where appropriate to modify anytime these general terms and conditions.
